Job Description

Role Summary/Purpose: The Metadata Developer will be responsible for the development and support of Data Sourcing technical services/solutions within the Synchrony Financial Chief Data Office. This individual will be responsible for participating in and supporting the development, testing and execution of data management controls in support of data definitions, data lineage, data sharing and reference and master data.

Essential Responsibilities:

·         Develop and enhance data sourcing workflows that capture metadata in Synchronys Technical and Business Metadata Catalogs. 

·         Develop functional and technical specifications from business requirements. 

·         Establish and operate technical processes for tracking, gathering and improving data traceability and data lineage by partnering with the Data Architecture and Data Usage technical teams. 

·         Keep abreast of emerging technologies while maintaining proficiency in existing technologies. 

·         Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned. 

Qualifications/Requirements:

·         Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field and a minimum of 1-4 years of IT experience 

·         Minimum 1 years experience with Data Management, Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Architecture, Analytics, Data Science, Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence. 

·         Minimum 1 years experience handling Data Structures in Microsoft Excel, Relational Databases, Java and RESTful API interfaces.

Desired Characteristics:

·         Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

·         Experience working with data warehouses and big data platforms. 

·         Experienced in sourcing and processing structured, semi-structured and unstructured data. 

·         Experience using data governance tools such as Collibra, Adaptive. 

·         Experience using data lineage tools such as: Informatica, Ab Initio. 

·         Experience building workflows that facilitate the coordination of tasks and approvals for multiple users. 

·         Experience building completely automated machine-to-machine workflows to exchange data and perform pre-set actions. 

·         Experience designing, implementing or maintaining Relational Databases. 

·         Experience implementing data solutions for both structured and unstructured data. 

·         Experience with SQL, BPMN, Java/Groovy, Tableau, ETL Graphs and Ab Initio Metadata Hub. 

·         Demonstrated success in managing multiple deliverables concurrently often within aggressive timeframes; ability to cope under time pressure. 

·         Outstanding written and verbal skills. 

·         Experience in partnering with a diverse team composed of staff and consultants located in multiple locations and time zones.
