JOB DESCRIPTION:

A customer service position, you're there to assist customers and make sure their shopping experience is enjoyable so they come back. A sales assistant helps create repeat business which in turn generates money for the business. You'll report to a retail manager or supervisor. 

Shop Assistants are also referred to as Retail or Sales Assistants. They receive good starting salaries and benefits. Assistants may be required to work long hours, holidays, overtime or on weekends, including Sundays. More and more males are working in this sector even though it is dominated by females. 
A Shop Assistant usually performs many of the following tasks: 

• Answering customer questions 
• Collecting payment for items sold 
• Conducting in store promotion 
• Notifying customers of sales and special offers 
• Placing orders for products 
• Stocking shelves
