Responsibilities: 1. Provide routine day-to-day operational support, including but not limited to:
2. Facilitate the proper escalation, communications, and management of customers critical tickets and issues
3. Monitor Support mailbox and Dashboards
4. Create tickets from phone calls and emails
5. Initiate internal critical issue escalation processes (P0 and P1) when warranted
6. Watch monitoring and other system dashboards and react per procedure to settings outside the normal accepted paramiters.
7. Create and maintain daily operational reports
8. Perform Database Administration tasks, including but not limited to:
Initial trouble shooting & resolution of RDBMS monitored alerts, up to and including basic monitored alerts (instance availability, blocking, etc.) and make recommendations for immediate and long-term resolution of issue
9. Potential RDBMS Disciplines include Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and MySQL
10. Perform basic MS SQL, Oracle, and My SQL tasks as part of tickets in support of the DI hosted customer environments
11. Constantly progress toward learning more advanced database administration functions
12. Responsible for providing all aspects of SQL Server Database administration support during assigned shift within the context of an ITIL based ticketing tool.
13. Ticket tasks can include but are not limited to:
Break fix, Account administration, AlwaysON, Replication, Logshipping, clustering, backups and recovery, audit reporting, Performance tuning as well as proactive environment health checks
14. Review Work Queue, work in-take processes, execute work, task requests, and work any other requests from clients or SQL Server manager might assign.
15. Help the Shift Manager with shift transition when coming on and exiting work shift activities
16. Help the Shift and GOC Managers in resolving issues and customer escalations during the assigned shift.
17. Assist in the development and implementation of DBA process, procedures and SOPs for SQL Server Database Systems.
18. Customer communications be it via the ticketing system, separate email, direct person to person phone interaction, as well as participation in conference calls and in some cases providing leadership of customer interaction in conference calls and other communications.
Technical Experience:
· Minimum 4 year work experience in SQL Server DBA
· Excellent Communication Skills
· Familiarity with OS environments; basic administration tools
· Experience with Microsoft SQL Server is required (2+ years)
· Experience with Oracle DB, MySQL, Windows, Unix or Linux a Plus
· ITIL foundations v3 plus certification is a strong plus but strong ITIL knowledge is a requirement
· Experience with ITIL based ticketing tools is an absolute must for this position. Experience with Service Now tool is a plus
