In January 2009, IIT Hyderabad admitted 11 PhD students. On February, 27, 2009, the foundation stone of IIT Hyderabad was laid by Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Hon'ble Chairperson of UPA. For the 2009-10 academic years, IITH will be admitting 120 B.Tech. Students, 35 M.Tech. Students and 10-15 Ph.D. students.

Job Details:

Title of the Research Project: Dynamic Slip Inversion for Earthquakes with Available Data.

Essential Qualifications: Master's Degree in Civil/ Applied Mechanics/ Geophysics/Seismology/ Applied Mathematics with 70% marks or equivalent CGPA. Good mathematical and analytical skills. Good programming skills with knowledge of Fortran/C/C++/MATLAB. CSIR-NET/GATE qualified (bonus). 

Remuneration: As per MoES norms.

Appointment Period: 3 months, extendable to 1.5 year(s) based on performance.

Description of the job: Inverse problems in Seismology; Bayesian framework for inversions; Kinematic and Dynamic rupture description of Earthquake Source from near-field seismic data.

Age: 28 years (can be relaxed as per GoI norms).
